WEBVTT

00:00.400 --> 00:04.980
This week’s number: 80 and a half cents.

00:05.040 --> 00:07.940
That’s what Loudoun County, Virginia charges homeowners

00:08.000 --> 00:10.690
per hundred dollars of their home’s value.

00:12.020 --> 00:14.420
Ten years ago it was a dollar fourteen.

00:14.480 --> 00:17.020
What happened in between? Data centers.

00:17.080 --> 00:20.030
More of them than anywhere on Earth,

00:20.140 --> 00:24.520
paying over a billion dollars a year in local taxes.

00:24.580 --> 00:31.350
Schools. Roads. Fire trucks. Lower rates for everybody else.

00:32.660 --> 00:36.590
It didn’t happen by accident. It happened in writing.

00:36.880 --> 00:42.960
Don’t take our word for it. The county publishes every number. Check.

00:43.020 --> 00:45.020
Build it right, or don’t build it.
