Service towers and a lantern hall · 480 MW · Columbia River, Washington

Louis Kahn divided buildings into servant spaces, the towers that carry air, water and power, and the served spaces they make possible. A data center is that idea pushed to its limit. Here the service towers rise into the clouds and hold a lantern hall between them. Inside is a forest canopy in the air, with the machine floor glowing far below.
