A whole downtown block, with homes and shops on every street face and the machines in the sealed centre that no street can see. The roof of their hall is the floor of a court the size of a town square, under a ridge of glass, and the warmth that leaves the machines goes into the court first and then into every home on the block. In January the block's garden is in leaf, and warm water pours into its pool from the hall's wall.
